My name is Heidi, and I am a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, a certified doula, a lactation specialist and self described birth nerd. I am also a momma of 5. I am very passionate about what I do! Watching people become informed, advocate for themselves and feel supported, brings me so much joy.
Doulas work alongside you and your Doctor or Midwife as part of your birth team. We don't replace your partner, in fact we are there to help support you both.
We are your personal Google, the friend you can call and share your anxiety's with, share the exciting things like those first kicks, and be a listening ear on those tough days. We share evidence based information, listen to your birth goals and desires, and help you make a birth plan. We help you to advocate for yourself so your desires and goals for your birth are heard. We are there at your birth, and support you physically and emotionally. We don't disappear after your baby arrives, but instead we help you navigate those early parenting and postpartum days.
No matter what you want your birth experience to look like, My goal is to help you meet that goal.
My birth doula support package includes 2 prenatal visits, labor and birth support and 1 postpartum visit.
Plus 6 weeks of support via phone/text for questions and help with breastfeeding and your new baby.
I am a certified lactation specialist and can help you navigate breastfeeding challenges.

The unknown is scary,
but...
Learning more makes you fear less
Independent childbirth classes empower pregnant people to take an active role in their healthcare, and view childbirth as a normal and healthy life event. When someone is involved in shared decision making with their provider, we see less cesarean birth and lowered induction rates occur as well. Research also shows
-less false labor admissions to the hospital
-higher rates of breastfeeding
-shorter labors
-higher satisfaction of birth experience
Your biggest take away will be confidence and self-advocacy skills.
What will I learn?
We will spend time together covering many topics, including:
-exercise and getting your body ready for labor
-anatomy of the pregnant person
-stages of labor
-the hormones of labor
-coping strategies
-postpartum care
-breastfeeding basics
-current evidence, and more
Your baby is here! Now what?
An interactive class that is great for first time parents, or for a refresher if its been awhile.
We will dive in and talk about what to expect from your baby the first 6 weeks, including
-newborn behavior
-bathing, clothing, diapering
-feeding
-crying and soothing techniques
-newborn health & safety
-and more

I am located in Albany OR, and I teach classes at the Corvallis hospital, although anyone is welcome to attend, regardless of where you are choosing to deliver your baby! For doula clients, I can support you if you are within an hours drive from from me, so anywhere from Eugene to Salem and everywhere in between.
Most insurance companies will reimburse for you prenatal education. After you pay for the class, I will provide you with a receipt for you to submit to your Insurance holder and they will mail you a check to reimburse you. * I encourage you to contact your insurance company to verify they will reimburse you.
If you have Oregon health plan, the classes are FREE and completely covered. I just need a picture of your card, and you're birthdate.
Yes! The cost of the class is for two people. You can bring your partner, or any support person along with you.
Sometime during the second or third trimester is a great time to hire a doula and start to get to know other. It is also never to late to start doula support and as long as you are still pregnant, you can still get connected with a doula to come and support you during your birth!
Many private insurance companies unfortunately do not cover doula support. If you are hiring me as your doula, and your insurance company does not cover doula support, I ask that you pay half of the fee when you hire me as your doula, and the other half around 37 weeks. It is a good idea to contact your insurance policy holder and ask about reimbursement for a birth doula as well.
If you have Oregon health plan you can receive doula support completely covered and free to you.
ALL of them! Like the name of my business, I want you to have your birth, your way. Whether that means you want to deliver in a hospital, at home, or a birth center, I want to support your choices! And doulas don't only support non-medicated births...doulas are amazing for all birth plans including epidurals and cesarean birth. If you would like to talk more about what you are envisioning for your birth and to see if doula support would be helpful for you and your support team, please send me an email or book a time to chat on the phone.
